One of the Wheaton City Council's goals in their Strategic Priorities is economic development in the City's downtown. A key part of that will be the development of a Downtown Wheaton Strategic Plan and a Downtown Streetscape Plan. To assist in this, the Council conducted a competitive request for proposals and selected Design Workshop, a planning consultant specializing in landscape architecture, urban design and strategic services.
The development of both plans will begin with a presentation to City Council followed by information meetings and updates. The following tasks are associated with completing the final project:
- Project Initiation
- Inventory and Analysis of Existing Conditions
- Initial Visioning Session and Creation of Plan Alternative
- Creation of Preferred Plans for Downtown Wheaton
- Completion of Final Vision Plan
- Completion of Final Strategic Plan
- Completion of Final Streetscape Plan
- Final Vision, Strategic Plan and Conceptual Streetscape Plan
- Public Open House
